Mary Pat Donohue is a Partner at Newland and Newland, where she focuses her practice on helping people who have been injured at work. She has extensive experience in both arbitrations and appeals before the Illinois Workers Compensation Commission. Mary Pat has also argued cases in the Circuit Court of Cook County and the Illinois Appellate Court, Workers Compensation Division. Previously she practiced workers compensation defense for the law departments of several national insurance companies.
Mary Pat has represented workers who have been injured on the job site or while traveling as part of their job duties. She has worked with individuals who have sustained a large variety of work-related injuries, including strains, fractures, carpal tunnel injuries, rotator cuff tears, and herniated discs. She also has experience helping people who have required many different types of treatment, including laminectomies, fusions, carpal tunnel repairs, rotator cuff repairs, and total knee replacements.
Mary Pat began her legal career as an Assistant State’s Attorney with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. While assigned to the Criminal Appeals Division, she argued appeals pertaining to felony convictions before the Illinois Supreme Court and the Illinois Appellate Court. She was also assigned to the Third Municipal District in Rolling Meadows where she tried both bench and jury trials for misdemeanor and traffic cases.
Mary Pat graduated magna cum laude from St. Mary’s College of Notre Dame, IN. She received her law degree from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.
